Esquimalt WiFi Initiative
Esquimalt High school is currently working with the District to enhance secure wireless access (WiFi) for portable computers and other electronic devices. Esquimalt currently has limited WiFi access but is looking to increase the access coverage in the school and switch to district approved equipment which will grant better and more secure access for individuals. The particular scope of the project and where in the school WiFi access will be provided will be determined by staff feedback based on an audit which will occur on November 10th to determine the best coverage scenarios and expected cost for each individual access point.
In order to help with the questions or concerns that may arise from this project we have provided an email link and contact information for Mr. Giesbrecht (cgiesbrecht@sd61.bc.ca ph: 250-382-9226) who will be overseeing the implementation of the WiFi enhancement project. We have also provided a document titled “Addressing Safety Concerns with Wireless Networks” to help parents with some of the potential health related questions. Please feel free to contact Mr. Giesbrecht with your thoughts on this project. We look forward to continuing to improve our technological support of Students, Staff, and Parents of Esquimalt.
