Graphics and Digital Media Career Program
The emergence of new media and the increasing importance of the visual over the verbal have created a growing demand for visual communicators with strengths in both traditional and digital design, illustration and animation. The Graphics and Digital Media program prepares students for further education and employment as visual communicators. In this demanding career preparation program, students will have the opportunity to complete projects
In Graphic Design, Computer Graphics using Adobe Illustrator/Macromedia Freehand, Digital Imaging with Adobe Photoshop, Web Graphics and 2D Animation with Macromedia Flash, Website design and management with Macromedia Dreamweaver, 3D Modeling with Google SketchUp, Digital Colour Photography, Black & White Photography, Darkroom Techniques, T-Shirt Design and Screen Printing, Typography, Offset Printing, and Portfolio Design and Development. Additional projects and pursuits are constantly changing according to the skills and interests of the Graphics and Digital Media class and the capacities of the school and may include papermaking, publishing, bookbinding, video production, exhibition design, product marketing and entrepreneurship. Senior students are encouraged to pursue independent project ideas.

Students applying for this program should have good communication skills, an aptitude in visual arts, and an interest in computer technology as well as an interest in exploring career options in the field of Design. Our graduates have entered a variety of post secondary programs at Vancouver Film School, Malaspina College, Vancouver Community College, UVic, SAIT, U of A, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and Emily Carr College of Art.
