Wrestling
Wrestling is a sport that requires mental and physical discipline, as well as personal commitment and sportsmanship. The enthusiasm for the sport has exploded at Esquimalt High School since the team formed in 2008. The wrestling program has helped students involved experience successes in their lives both on and off the mat.
Esquimalt High School's wrestling vision statement states:
“We will work within our community as coach, athletes and parents to introduce the sport of wrestling to Esquimalt’s youth. Participants are given an opportunity to participate on a wrestling team emphasizing physical and emotional toughness, sportsmanship, pride, integrity, and skill development. Esquimalt Wrestling will develop individual potential and transfer skills learned into real life. Esquimalt wrestlers will move forward as productive individuals who have found their place in school, at home, and in their community.”
Wrestling Schedule
The Esquimalt wrestling team begins it's season on October 16th and will run until March 1st. All participants continuing on to National Championships will participate through March and April as members of Team BC. The team practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm in the Esquimalt High School gymnasium.
