Rowing
The rowing team practices 4 times a week from early September to November. Team members practice at the Gorge Rowing Club, which is a 15 minute walk from the school.
The rowing team had a very successful season this year. With thirty three rowers on the roster, we had the biggest team Esquimalt has seen in years. The crew worked hard all season to improve, training four times a week, with practices both on and off the water.
Coached by Jared Csizmadia of Gorge Row and Paddle, former Esquimalt parent Janice Mason, and former Esquimalt student Alex Walker, the crew had a strong level of support throughout the season. While this year was a building year for the team--we had many students come out who were ew to the sport--it was also a year in which our experienced rowers did an excellent job of leading by example.
Special congratulations go out to Luc Briede Cooper for coming first in the Senior Boys Single at the City Championships, and to Jordan Watson for representing British Columbia at the National Rowing Championships. Thanks to the crew for a great season; see you next year!
